"EDO ONLINE" (the "Operator") establishes this Privacy Policy (the "Policy") regarding the handling of users' personal information in the services provided on this website (the "Service").

Article 1 (Personal Information)

"Personal Information" has the meaning given under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information: information about a living individual that can identify that individual by name, date of birth, address, phone number, contact, or other description, as well as personal identification information such as facial image, fingerprint, voiceprint, or health-insurance ID.

  • The only personal information required at registration is your email address. If you authenticate with a Google account, the Operator also obtains your account name and Gmail address.
  • Payment information (credit card number, etc.) used to purchase paid in-game currency is processed by a third-party payment processor; the Operator does not store such information.
  • The Operator may collect technical information such as IP address, User-Agent, and cookies in access logs for abuse prevention and operational integrity.
  • Logs of posts made via the Kawaraban bulletin board, trade messaging, or other posting features (message content, post body, timestamps, etc.) are retained, and may be inspected to prevent prohibited conduct or to respond to legal requirements.

Article 3 (Purposes of Use)

The Operator collects and uses personal information for the following purposes:

  • to provide and operate the Service;
  • to respond to user inquiries (including identity verification);
  • to send emails about new features, updates, campaigns, and other services offered by the Operator;
  • to contact users about maintenance, important announcements, and similar matters;
  • to identify and refuse service to users who violate the Terms of Use or who intend to use the Service improperly;
  • to allow users to view, modify, or delete their own registered information and usage history;
  • to respond to disclosure requests or other legal processes under Japan's Provider Liability Limitation Act or similar laws;
  • to charge fees for paid services (payment information is held by a third-party payment processor);
  • any purposes incidental to the above.

Article 4 (Change of Purpose)

  • The Operator will change the purpose of use of personal information only where reasonably related to the pre-change purpose.
  • Any change of purpose will be notified to users or published on the website in a manner determined by the Operator.

Article 5 (Provision to Third Parties)

  • Except as provided below or as otherwise permitted under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws, the Operator will not provide personal information to third parties without prior user consent:
  • where necessary to protect the life, body, or property of a person and consent is difficult to obtain;
  • where particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound upbringing of children and consent is difficult to obtain;
  • where cooperation with a government agency or its delegate in performing statutory duties is needed and obtaining consent would impede those duties;
  • where the Operator has notified or published the following items in advance and filed with the Personal Information Protection Commission: the inclusion of third-party provision in the purpose, the items of data provided, the means of provision, that the Operator will stop such provision on request, and the method for receiving such requests.
  • Notwithstanding the above, the recipients in the following cases are not deemed third parties:
  • where the Operator outsources the handling of personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use;
  • where personal information is provided in connection with a merger or other business succession;
  • where personal information is jointly used with specific parties, provided that the fact of joint use, the items, the scope of joint users, the purpose of use, and the name of the party responsible for management have been notified in advance or are readily available to the individual.

Article 6 (Disclosure)

  • Upon request from the individual, the Operator will disclose their personal information without delay. However, disclosure may be withheld in whole or in part in the following cases, and if disclosure is withheld the individual will be notified without delay. A fee of JPY 1,000 per request applies:
  • where disclosure risks harming the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the individual or a third party;
  • where disclosure risks significantly interfering with the Operator's proper business operations;
  • where disclosure would violate other laws.
  • Notwithstanding the above, information other than personal information such as historical and characteristic data will not, in principle, be disclosed.

Article 7 (Correction and Deletion)

  • Users may request the Operator to correct, add, or delete their personal information (collectively "Correction") in accordance with procedures determined by the Operator, where the information is inaccurate.
  • If the Operator determines it is necessary to respond to such a request, it will perform the Correction without delay.
  • The Operator will notify the user without delay of any Correction performed or of a decision not to perform a Correction.

Article 8 (Suspension of Use)

  • If an individual requests the Operator to suspend or erase their personal information (collectively "Suspension") on the grounds that it is being used beyond the stated purpose or was obtained by unlawful means, the Operator will conduct a necessary investigation without delay.
  • Based on the results of the investigation, the Operator will perform the Suspension without delay if it determines it necessary.
  • The Operator will notify the user without delay of any Suspension performed or of a decision not to perform a Suspension.
  • Notwithstanding the above, where Suspension would require significant expense or is otherwise difficult, the Operator will take alternative measures sufficient to protect the user's rights and interests.

Article 9 (Changes to this Policy)

  • Except as provided by law or otherwise in this Policy, the contents of this Policy may be changed without notice to users.
  • Unless otherwise specified, the revised Policy takes effect from the time it is posted on this website.
